[Estimation of several features of potato clones population obtained from hybridization]
2000
Skrabule, I. (Priekuli Plant Breeding Station, Priekuli (Latvia))
Five important features for chip production were estimated in potato clones population, obtained from cultivars "Hertha" and "Impala" hybridization. The coefficients of traits variability and heritability have been assessed. Three features: starch content (CS), tuber shape (BF) and glucose amount (GD) had high coefficient of heritability - more than 50 %. Just GD had high coefficient of variation, others had medium high. The application of those traits in selection could be very effective. Coefficient of heritability of eyes number (AS) and depth (AD) were lower - less than 50%. The value of trait margin assessment, useful in selection acceptable clones, was calculated too. 20 % of clones from population had accepted value of estimated traits and were selected as suitable for chip production.
