Immune response of cattle and carabao vaccinated with locally produced hemorrhagic septicemia vaccine

A mean titer of 4.1 and 3.1 respectively resulted from primary vaccination in cattle and carabao. An increase in the immune response observed on day 28, two weeks after booster vaccination resulted to a mean titer of 22.1 in cattle and 44.4 in carabao. A decrease in titer levels in cattle from 19.2 (day 49) to 3.8 (day 154) and in carabao from 20 (day 49) to 5.7 (day 154) were observed. Other factors like nutrition, slight infection and stress were considered as precipitating causes in the decrease in titer levels of subject vaccinate. Using the indirect hemagglutination assay, it was found that the immune response of cattle and carabao to locally produced hemosep vaccine showed elevated levels of antibodies after the booster vaccination. Thus, vaccination should be given three times within three months to maintain better immunity levels
