The field trials were made on light soil experimental plots near the city of Bydgoszcz in 1995-97. Seven Chenopodium quinoa cultivars were studied. The present research concerned the Chenopodium quinoa plant development as well as biometric features, such as height, lenght of inflorescence, lenght of root system, dry matter of root system and dry matter of the over-the-ground part of plant. After the harvest, the number of plants per one square meter was determined. The results presented showed favourable climatic and habitat conditions of the Chenopodium guinoa cultivars investigated in Poland, except for the cultivars from the Peru group which did not produce seeds due to their long vegetation period required. The most favourable biometric features were found in the Olav cultivar
