The relationship of bulls with regard to milk efficiency was examined in cows of selected Slovak Spotted cattle bred on the farm Krivan. The results of blood relations were calculated as described by Wright (1992), evaluating 53 pedigrees of bulls covering the period of 1995-1998. Milk efficiency was analyzed on the basis of 249-lifetime lactation records of cows. The highest production of milk, x = 4004.08 kg, and proteins, x = 127.33 kg, was found in the daughters of the AS 081 sire. This production is expected to be higher providing the consistent choice of sires for the breeding programme is applied. Calculated values for the mean coefficient of relationship of bulls, E/Rxz/, ranged from 0.24 to 1.68%. The coefficient of relationship of bulls-relatives, Rxy, was from 6.25 to 37.50%. No intensity of inbreeding was detected in the cattle evaluated. Based on the analysis of the blood relations and milk efficiency of the cows bred on the farm Krivan, this herd can be considered as a gene resource of Slovak Spotted breed in improving cattle provided high-quality breeding bulls and a good fodder base are used
