Collection, conservation and potential evaluation of horticultural crops survival after flooding in 1995 in Thailand

Collection of horticultural crops survival after flooding in 1995 in 10 province of Thailand, namely, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Samut Prakan, Nakhon Pathom, Suphan Buri, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Ang Thong, Sing Buri, Chai Nat, Nakhon Sawan was conducted from January 1966-November 1996. The horticultural crops with high potential on economic and germplasm diversity were collected. All of the plants were divided into 3 groups which were: 1. Economic crops which intolerance to flooding, especially those its grow commercially in the central plain. 2. Crops which tolerance to waterlogging especially those its may develope to economic crops in the future. 3. Rare fruit trees and ornamental which are high risk to lost by flooding. Some of horticultural crops which were collected are. Durian (42 cultivars) Kob Chai Nam, Kob Ta kam, Jogloy, Luang, Kradum Thong, Kob Ta Mak, Kob Mae Thao, Kampan Luang, Kob Wai, Yam Ma Wad, Mon Thong, Kan Yao, Kob Na San, Sao Noi, Sao chom, E-Nak Kob Suwan, Kob Ta Tuam, Chompoo Sri, Tong Yoi-Chat, Tong Mai, Kun Non, Kob leg Yeio, Kob Hem Raj, Chat Si Nak, Chai Ma Fai, Nam Sod, Kob Bai Sri, Nok Yib, Thong Daeng, Ka Toey, Kompan Nuakao, Chai Mang Kood, Kob Mang Korm, Tong Yib, Pin Tong, Daung Sao Noi, Kob Son Klin, Med Nai Yai Prang, Mon Thong, Chanee, Kan Yao Wat Sak. Mango divided into 2 group 1. Tolerance to waterlogging such as cv. Man Tang Kwa, Pim Saen Prew, Wat Wang and some seedling cultivars. 2. Rare cultivars such as Pram Kai Mea, Kai Tuek, Yai Kluam, Hua Chang, Tong Plai Khan, Kra Suai, Tep Ros, Sang Kaya, etc. Santol (12 cultivars) Tep Ros, Peai Fai, E-la, Tong Yib, Ta Chaum, Nim Nuan, Kan Tong, Ma Tuuam, Tong Ta Wee, Took Thong, Tab Tim etc. All of the horticultural crops collected in this project weridentified and classified and planted in the germplasm collection field for the secondary research works in the future.
