1997 fertilizer trial on grain yield of corn in upland field compared 2 rates of 15-15-15 and 20-20-0 fertilizer at the rate of 188 and 375 kg/ha as basal fertilizer, the effect of top-dressing with 21-0-0 at the rate of 188 kg/ha on grain yield of corn was also studied. The result of the trial from 5 locations showed that: 1. The combination between 20-20-0 at the rate of 375 kg/ha and 21-0-0 at the rate of 188 kg/ha as top-dressing when the corn plants were 30 days of age resulted the highest yield of 6,647 kg/ha, i.e., 44 percent higher than that of the treatment with no fertilizer application (4,602 kg/ha) 2. The average grain yield of corn from treatments with 15-15-15 and 20-20-0 as basal fertilizer was 5,862 kg/ha. In addition, application of 21-0-0 at the rate of 188 kg/ha as top-dressing led to the grain yield of 6,348 kg/ha, i.e., 8.2 percent increment in yield.
