Under the semiarid conditions in the Vojvodina Province, Serbia (Yugoslavia), two years research (1997 and 1998) was conducted to test the effect of increasing nitrogen rates (control-45, 60, 75, and 90 kg/ha) as well as microbiological fertilizer on harvest index, grain yield and grain yield components of two spring fodder pea varieties. The highest grain yield was obtained with variant of 60 kg/ha and Rhizobium leguminosarum MB1. The variety Moravac achieved the higher grain yield than that variety NS-Junior. Bearing in mind determinated nitrogen content (45 kg/ha) in chernozem soil type, it was enough to inoculate the seed with appropriate bacterial strain in aim to obtain high grain yields of fodder pea.
