Use of biochemical markers in selection of Holstein-Friesian cows

Nine biochemical characteristics and corresponding average of 4 dairy traits were analysed in the blood of 55 cows - milk yield, fat yield, fat and protein percentage.The carried out study showed the possibility of utilization of physiology-biochemical markers in dairy cow selection.Most informative in that direction were erithrocytes, total protein and globulines.Positive, moderate and significant correlations were found between these characteristics and the production traits.The dependence between haemoglobine and albumin content and dairy traits was low, around zero and nonsignificant.
