The paper examines a prototype of a head-like cabbage harvesting tool to be mounted to a YUMZ-6L tractor. The effect of the tractor/tool combination forward speed, of the pulling up belts speed and of the slope of the directing part of the belts on the unharvested crop losses was investigated with two schemes of planting: 70x60 and 70x45 cm. The experiment planning method was used, established according to the V3 plan. Regression equations were derived in encoded state of the governable factors for both planting schemes. The adequacy of the models was determined through the Fisher criterion, and the significance of the regression through the Studant criterion.
