This study assembled the current knowledge of control possibilities, by means of pesticides, in 15 grass species grown for seed in Czech Republic. Weeds can be controlled by the following registered herbicides: MCPA, fluroxypyr (Starane 250 EC), clopyralid (Lontrel 300), bentazon (Basagran and Basagran super), dichlorprop-P (Duplosan DP), mecoprop-P (Duplosan KV), chlorsulfuron (Glean 75 WG), ethofumesat (Nortron super and Stemat super), and quizalofop-P-ethyl (Targa super 5 EC). The results of field trials with other herbicides (Granstar 75 WG - tribenuron, Grodyl 75 WG - amidosulfuron + isoproturon, Lentagran 450 EC - Pyrridate, Logran 75 WG - triasulfuron, Lintur 75 WG - triasulfuron + dicamba, Puma Extra - fenoxaprop-P-ethyl + mefenpyr - diethyl and Stomp 330 E - pendimethalin) are mentioned. Also described are the ways of chemical control of powdery mildew, graminicolous rusts, ergot, smut, leaf spots, snow mold, silver top, slugs and rodents with registered and non-registered fungicides, insecticides and other chemicals. The situation in the registration of chemicals for use in grasses in the Czech Republic and other Euriopean countries and overseas is compared.
