The influence of fluoranthene on the growth, the content of nitrogen, phosphorus, photosynthetic pigments and on primary processes of photosynthesis of faba bean and sunflower were studied. Translocation and accumulation of FLT in plants were evaluated. After 22 days of cultivation in nutrient solution with fluoranthene a significant inhibition of biomass and content of photosynthetic pigments (chlorophyll a, b, carotenoids) of faba bean and sunflower was found. In faba bean and sunflower exposed to FLT the lower content of phosphorus in all organs and lower content of nitrogen and phosphorus in shoot and leaves were found. The results demonstrated the significant influence on process of photosynthesis (the significant changes in the chlorophyll fluorescence parameters. The highest concentration of FLT was found in roots and the lowest concentration in shoots of both plant species. Translocation of FLT into the above-ground parts was also confirmed. Sunflower plants were more sensitive to fluoranthene present in the environment. The FLT effect on the evaluated processes was stronger if the time of the cultivation extended.
