Different kinds of feeds (meat, fish, meat and fish by-products and wastes, dry milk, flours) fed to carnivorous fur animals were evaluated by chemical analyses. The feeds may be divided into 3 groups according to their nutritive value. The first group comprises feeds with high biological value and optimal concentrations of limiting amino acids (meat, liver, kidneys, heart, spleen, brain, fish, eggs, milk, cheeses, meat and fish flours). The second group includes less valuable feeds with unbalanced ratio of amino acids and high content of conjunctive tissues (lungs, udder, stomach, intestines, blood). Feeds rich in collagens and elastins such as poultry intestines, heads, skins and fish fins belong to the last group. A meat and bone flour (for example N-ADOVA made in Slovakia) may complete the rations with low concentrations of nitrogen compounds, while wheat and barley flours serve as a source of saccharides.
