Distribution of a polemic in Baltic countries forest disease - snow blight and its agent Phacidium infestans Karst. (Phacidiales, Ascomycota) are discussed on the base of the investigations carried out during several decades. Two questions are posed in the article, the first concerning definitely this restricted weatern Baltic distribution area: is it a result of the continuous trans-Baltic-sea dissemination of P.infestans or are the nidi there relictic. Another question concerns the usefulness of respective data about the fluctuations on the southern border of the natural distribution area of Phacidium infestans in the indication of climate warming. Dimensions of asci and ascospores of the fungus from the samples originating from North Baltic, but as well comparative temperature requirement data of 37 isolates of Ph. infestans of different origin, inclusive Baltic, are represented in this article
