Effects of mixing materials on the variation of water, carbon, nitrogen contents and EC in the composting process of leftovers

In order to efficiently convert leftovers into compost, the leftovers were mixed with paper, rice husk, saw dust or rice bran as an auxiliary material, and how the presence of these materials effects variation of EC, water, carbon, nitrogen contents and C/N ratio in the rotting process were studied. 1) According as time passed, EC increased like as pH. A new index about the rotting process may be obtained by analysis of kinds of ions. 2) Not only to control the water content but also to improve the physical character by mixing materials are needed to efficiently convert leftovers into compost. 3) Variation in carbon content is quite small. Conversely we can not see a fixed tendency in nitrogen content. So C?N ratio can not be a index to estimate the degree of rotting
