The growing characteristic and shoot management of 'Rosario Bianco' grapes

In order to clarify the growing characteristic of 'Rosario Bianco' grapes and establish how to cultivate them, we did the following investigations. 1. We researched grapevines made by growers 3 times (the period of pre-flowering, self-topping and leaves-falling) a year for 3 years. The germination rate of canes was lower in every vineyard, in better vineyard it was about 60%, and in other 3 vineyards it was 40s %. At pre-flowering the shoot length reached up 90 to 100 cm, and the shoot vigor was higher. But, the fruit set was better. In the vineyard produced high quality and quantity of fruits, shoots were topped, and the ripening of shoots was better. 2. Canes were classified bearing or unbearing the year before, and the germination of them and the elongation of shoots were examined. The latter was higher germination of nodes and had more bunches. And the elongation of shoots was better before flowering period, the average of shoot length was 57 cm and it was 10 cm more longer. 3. We topped shoots at post-flowering (in mid-June) or self-topping period (in mid-July), the time of topping had no influence on both the germination of nodes and the number of bunches. However, the germination rate of canes was about 10 % higher than non-topping in the following year. But, the topping did not have much effect on the fruit quality and quantity
