Soils used for agriculture soils in Lithuania consist of approximatelly 13 gravel and sandy loam soils. These soils are mainly located in Eastern Lithuania. They are of a low productivity but, as our experimental data showed they are suitable for annual fodder crops and perennial grasses growing. On sandy soils it is posible to grow yellow fodder lupine, seradella, fodder peas, their mixtures with oats for fodder. On gravel soils and especially on hills it is posible to grow perennial legume grasses (alfalfa, sainfoin, bird's foot trefoil) and their mixtures with smooth brome, tall and red fescue. Hilly gravel soils are suitable for pastures with perennial legume grasses
