The research on the influence of different storage temperatures on the productivity of potato tubers and the quality of the produced chips was carried out at the Lithuanian University of Agriculture in the period of 1997-1999. Seven potato cultivars defined in the given paper were investigated. In these cultivars the content of dry matter, starch, total and reducing sugars and solanine was determined. It was established that the content of the mentioned elements depended on the cultivar characteristics and the storage temperature. Significantly smaller losses of dry matter and starch were established in cultivars "Aistes" and "Voke" tubers. The losses of total and reducing sugars fluctuated most in "Fresco" and "Aistas". The increase of solanine was most intensive in high storing temperatures in cultivar "Mirta". For the production of good quality chips cultivars "Voke", "Mirta", "Aistas" and "Gloria" were recommended.
