Balance of phosphorus and potassium in perennial grass sward

Long-term experiments (18 years) showed the effectiveness of mineral fertilizers applied to perennial grass swards resulting in increased phosphorus amounts in the soil. Even large doses of fertilizer P were not sufficient enough to obtain high grass yields. Therefore a part of potassium necessary to grasses was taken up from the soil resulting in the decrease of mobile potassium in the soil.
