The analysis of cow and buffalo milk for essential and toxic elements is a focal interest for scientific investigation. The milk produced by cow and buffalo is consumed alike by urban and rural population of Pakistan. The environmental and man made contamination of milk samples have direct and indirect affects on human health. Therefore, in the present study cow and buffalo milk was analyzed under identical conditions using rapid. and simple methods of Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry to estimate the concentration of various metal ions which include calcium, sodium, magnesium, iron, nickel, manganese, lead, chromium and zinc'-'. The studies revealed that calcium, magnesium, iron and lead were found higher in buffalo milk whereas sodium, copper and nickel were higher in cow milk than in buffalo milk
