Soil Survey and Land Evaluation for Rainfed Crops

The soils of Zakaria experimental station have been investigated by preparing 57 profiles. While morphological descriptions were made for all profiles, laboratory analysis were carried out for samples taken from 31 soil profiles, U.S.D.A Soil Taxonomy was used to classify the profiles and to build up the map legend. The soils of the station were classified within four orders of the system. Land suitability maps were prepared for major rainfed crops, including wheat, barley and chickpea.
