During the period 1971-1975, the FAO established a consultative group, which in collaboration with many institutions located in different geographical and climatic zones of the world, selected, adapted, and recommended the following four methods for empirical determination of evapotranspiration: adapted Penman method, the radiation method, adapted Blaney-Criddle method, and the adapted evaporimeter method. Among the recommended methods, the adapted Blaney-Criddle method is the simplest, because it is based on air temperature, a single measured climate parameter. The mode and number of daily measurements determine values of air temperature at the same point. Mean air temperature is generated from daily measurements, and concerning this fact the likely mistakes have been studied in the determining evapotranspiration.
