Protein and oil content of soybean seed, as well as grain yield are genetically controlled traits, but they could significantly vary due to environmental factors, such as temperature, water amount, and planting date. In order to investigate influence of locality, year, and planting date on chemical composition of soybean seed, two trials has been set during 1996 and 1997. It has been established that the year has greater influence on oil content than on protein content, since differences between localities were significant for both traits due to different climatic conditions. By later planting, average content of oil is very significantly lower, while protein content is very significantly higher, which leads to conclusion that planting date has great influence on chemical composition of soybean seed.
