Improvement of the production traits of [Yugoslav] Domestic Spotted cattle by use of Montebeliard bulls

During the period 1992-2000, 8 Montbeliard bulls in the Center for Artificial Insemination "Krnjaca" (Serbia, Yugoslavia) were used. Bulls were obtained from heifers imported from France to the Negotin region, Serbia (Yugoslavia). They were reared and exploited in the Center for Artificial Insemination "Krnjaca", and tested on the territiry of the Republic of Serbia. From the total of 8 bulls, 6 completed progeny testing, 2 bulls are still in testing. The test was carried out as A control in relation to Simmental bulls used and tested in the same conditions and according to the same criteria. The test results showed 296 kg of milk more, and 0.54% less milk fat. Exterior measures in average showed increase, except the value for body weight which was lower by 16 kg.
