The bombing of the Novi Sad (Serbia, Yugoslavia) Oil Refinery in 1999 has lead to soil pollution by the products of burning oil and oil derivatives. These products were first carried by winds to the Rimski Sancevi Experimental Field of the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops (located in the vinicity of the Novi Sad Oil Refinery), where they entered the soil via precipitation. In the present study, we examined the extent to which this soil had been polluted. The study's findings show that the soil reaction has not changed and that the levels of heavy metals in the soil have not excedeed the maximum concentration allowed.
