The author indicated the major contraints which handicap the adequate nutrition of poultry and pigs in Zaire and most African countries. Then he called up ways and means which can lead to an appropriate feeding system. The fundamental approach suggest the identification by inquiry of agricultural by-products and agroindustrial residues available in each region of the country. Their better use in animal rations can improve the production of poultry and pigs
