The aim of the study was to establish the evolution of nutrient concentrations in 4 varieties of Dactylis glomerata during their growth. Samples were taken on 9, 15 and 24 May 2000. From 9 to 24 May, the grass quality decreased. The concentration of nitrogen compounds decreased in average for about 1.8 %/day, while the ADF and NDF concentrations increased for 0.8 %/day. The index of relative feeding value and the digestible dry matter both decreased progressively during the period studied.
