Fascioliasis in cattle in the district of Frydek-Mistek

Mean prevalence of fascioliasis in cattle slaughtered in the district in the period 1996 to 1999 was 6.92 %, which was a multiple of the national mean. The increase from 1.9 % in 1996 to 10.4 % in 1999 is alarming. The major causes of the increasing incidence was grazing on swamped pastures and failure of herd owners to deworm the animals regularly. The efficacy of control measures is discussed.
