Growth and health state of plantations founded by planting in three spacings and in various distance from manually prepared windrows from logging debris were evaluated in the Giant Mts. Target and pioneer tree species (Picea excelsa, Picea pungens, Larix deccdua, Pinus mugo, Betula pendula, Betula pubescens subsp. carpatica, Sorbus aucuparia, Duschekia alnobetula were planted at spacings 100x100 cm, 160x160 cm and 200x200 cm on clear-cut dissected by windrows ten years ago. Decrease of windrows, meteorological, emission and soil characteristics and nutrient content in assimilation organs were assessed, too. No significant differences occurred in growth and state of health in plantings founded in various spacing or in different distance from windrows.
