Evaluation of breeding programme of the Moravian warm-blooded horse

The aim of this study was to evaluate the percentage of other breeds in the genotype of Moravian warm-blooded mares and to compare their body dimensions with breed standards. One hundred and fourty-five registered mares born between the years 1979 and 1997 were used for the assessment of the relation between their genotype and year of birth. They were divided into seven groups according to the types of other breed(s) in their genotypes. Concerning the body measurements (height at the withers, heart girth and cannon bone circumference), there were statistically significant differences between the measured data and breed standards for heart girth.
