In our study, we verified the use of Alaptid in wound healing in three wounded dogs. We applied Alaptid during the second phase of wound healing and compared its effect with that of potassium permanganate. Wounds treated by Alaptid presented a granulated surface and marked epitelial border, while wounds treated by potassium permanganate presented signs of hypergranulation. Alaptid prevented adhesion of dressing material to the wound surface, preventing thus trauma to the wound surface. It also kept the wound wet, whereas the wound treated by potassium permanganate was too dried and presented severe bleeding during wound dressing. The wound must be cleaned before applying Alaptid.
