The ensilage is one of the widespread provenders for neat in Estonia. Because of that it is important to choose the ensilage harvesting technology and the system of ensilage harvesting machines of a farm or another agricultural/farming concern so that quality of produced ensilage would meet the requirements and production cost of a unit would be minimal, i.e. the working load and working load and working result of the machines would be optimal. The optimization of the working load of ensilage harvesting machines must begin with quality requirements pretended to the plants used for ensilage that determines the time of harvest work for the most time. Hereby the influence of the first mowing of grass plants, i.e. a criterium for optimization of the working load of ensilage harvesting machines on the quality of ensilage will be treated
