To protect against potential dangers and minimize the risk from chemicals, appropriate infrastructure is required to ensure proper chemical management. Elements of such a management system include relevant legislation, information system of chemical safety and development of capacity for poison control. In Hungary, Health Toxicological Information Service (ETTSZ) has been established in 1970. ETTSZ collects, processes and systematishes relevant toxicological, public health and clinical data as part of running a nation-wide register of dangerous substances and dangerous preparations and a register of products. Since 1990, ETTSZ has, upon request, provided information on data of its coverage 24 hours a day.
