Surveys of Hungarian surface waters for pesticide contamination

Progress inpesticide chemistry results in stronger efforts to save the environment and to protect the human health. Intensive application of the pesticides requires regular monitor of their fates in the environment. It makes possible to recognise the probable harmful effects in time and the pesticide load of the environment higher than required can be prevented. The occurence of the pesticides in surface waters has regularly been studied since the seventies by the analytical laboratories of the plant protection network. Experimental data obtained from 1994 to 2000 as well as some conclusion are presented.
