Effect of phosphorus sources and solubilising micro-organisms on the growth and yield of mulberry

A field experiment was carried out during the year 1994-95 under irrigated condition to investigaten the effect of P sources and P solubilising micro-organisms (PSM) on growth and yield mulberry. Application of P through water soluble phosphate (WSP) like single superphosphate (SSP), diammonium phosphate (DAP) or combination of WSP and rock phosphate (as mussooriephos and gafsaphos) in 1:1 ratio was found to be superior to mussoorie rock phosphate (MRP) and gafsaphos (GP) on growth and yield parameters of mulberry. In addition, inoculation of PSM with WSP + RP (1:1) ratio gave significantly higher growth and yield parameters viz., shoot height, number of shoots, number of leaves and fresh leaf yield per plant. Further, fromamong the treatments, application of WSP, RP or combination of WSP + RP (1:1) with inoculum, application of P through SSP + MRP (1:1) + Aspergillus awamori and SSP + GP (1:1) + A. awamori recorded significantly higher total fresh leaf yield as compared to SSP. Nevertheless, application of P through MRP and GP were on par with each other. However, the heighest benefit-cost ratio was obserbed in SSP + GP (1:1) A. awamori followed by SSP + MRP (1:1) + A. awamori.
