Pattern of segregation, genetic variability, heritability in the broad-sense, genetic advance under selection for siliqua on main shoot, siliqua length, seeds siliqua-1, 1000-seed weight and seed yield plant-1 and their interrelationships were studied in four F2 populations of Indian mustard (Brassica juncea L. Czern and Coss). All the traits showed continuous but asymmetric variation having single peak with wide transgressive segregation. The estimates of genetic parameters were largely influenced by the genotypic background of the crosses. Silique on main shoot and seeds siliqua-1 had positive and significant association with seed yield plant-1 in all the four crosses. Rest of the correlations were cross specific. In the selection programme, greater emphasis should therefore, be given to siliqua on main shoot and seeds siliqua-1.
