The collected plants were bushy with pseudostem height of 25.6 cm. Leaf sheth enclosing pseudostem was light violet. The lamina was lanccolate, dark green above except midrib which was dark tan and pale green beneath. Average tiller number/clump was 5.0. Leaf length (cm), breadth (cm0 and area (cmý) were 19.8, 8.3 and 119.3 at the fourth, 26.5, 9.8 and 191.4 at the sixth and 36.2, 10.7 and 239.4 at the eighth nodal position respectively. Stomatal frequencies/cmý of leaf were higher in lower (Av. 9324) than those of upper surface (Av. 1084). Rhizome yield and number of apical tuber of root/clump were 170.5 g and 28.6. The number of mother, primary and secondary rhizomes/clump were 4.2, 9.2 and 1.7 while fresh weight (g), curing percentagem length (cm), breadth (cm), internodal length (cm) of the same were 23.5, 4.6, 0.9; 32.3, 2706, 25.8; 5.7, 4.7, 2.6; 3.1, 1.2, 0.9 and 0.45, 0.94, 0.42 respectively. Most conspicuously the rhizomes had camphoraceous smell with blue core colour which was deeper in the inner and lighter in the outer. Besides, the blue turmeric matured at 245 days and showed moderate susceptibility to rhizome rot, immunity to leaf blotch disease.
