Studies made during 1995-96 rabi on the performance of two varieties of fodder maize ivz., African tall and APFM 22 at four levels of nitrogen viz., 0,40,80,120 kg ha-1 revealed that more plant height, leaf area index, green and dry fodder yields were observed with African tall. A consistent and significant increase in growth parameters, green and dry fodder yields with increase in each level of nitrogen. The interaction between varieties and nitrogen levels were also found to be significant. African tall with 120 kg N ha-1 was assessed to be better for higher fodder production.
