Consumption behaviour of potato products in rural and urban areas of meerut district

A benchmark survey was conducted during the year 1999 and 2000 in the different sectors of rural and urban areas of Meerut district. The data revealed that Frito Lay (Lay's potato chips and Uncle chipps) were more popular with average consumption rate 10.7 to 27% but at Railway station and Cinema halls their consumption rate varied from 20.5-27%, followed by PikNik potato pops(9-11%). In rural areas and general markets of Meerut city, the people preferred to eat chips and local namkeens with a consumption rate of 9-33%. The Haldiram, Crax and Local namkeens were more popular with the consumption rate of 9-30%; 11-14% and 33-39%, in rural and urban areas respectively.
