The present paper provides an analysis of the effect of soil properties and fertilization on the spring barley yield and nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium concentration in grain. The experiment was conducted in 1997-1999 in Dotnuva on a sod gleyic light soil on light and medium loam. Experimental findings suggest that barley yield and its chemical composition depend on meteorological conditions and general level of crop nutrition
