Wheat crop occupies about 40% of the total cropped area in the province. Very little work has been done about the magnitude and pattern of energy input for production of wheat in Pakistan. The present study was, therefore, undertaken by the National Energy Conservation Centre (ENERCON), Islamabad, in collaboration with the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, to determine the level and pattern of energy consumption for wheat crop in different crop ecological zones of the Punjab province of Pakistan.
