Complex evaluation of milk efficiency in the created crosses is necessary within the programme of improvement of Tsigai sheep (T) using the Lacaune breed (Lc). The production and composition of milk from T sheep and T x Lc F1 generation crosses are compared. T x Lc crosses produced 127.0 l milk during 134 days lasting milking period, and T ewes produced 81.8 l; the crosses produced 158.3 l and the T sheep 98.4 l for the standard (150 days) milking period, at average daily milk production 947.4 ml in crosses and 623.4 ml in T sheep (P0.001). There were minimum differences between ewes with 1 or 2 lambs (P0.05). Significantly lower (P0.01) content of fat (7.98%), proteins (5.23%) and dry matter (19.05%) was found with T x Lc crosses compared with purebred T sheep (8.29%, 5.39%, 19.44%, resp.). The content of lactose was higher with the crosses (4.94%) than with T (4.86%, P0.01). We did not find significant effect of number of born lambs on the content of individual milk components
