This article provides an overview of methodology for applied positive analysis for policy making in agriculture. the focus is on the methods that can be used to model the impact of integration of the Central and East European countries into the European Union. Two basic approaches have been used extensively in the literature: mathematical programming and economic methods. Proc and cons of various methods and their use in policy making are examined
