Use of ammonuium laureth sulfate, rock phosphate, animal manure and green manure for cane yield improvement

Most of sugarcane in the western sugarcane belt of Thailand is grown in a silty clay loam soil. After planting with cane for a long period, this soil become compact, has a low infiltration rate and always has a surface crust. To solve these problems six soil managements were compared and evaluated in Kamphang Sean soil at Suphan buri Field Crops Research Center from 1994-1997. By using green manure cane yield of plant cane can be increased over than control. This result was in keeping with the result in 1994. Using ammonium laureth sulfate did not slow any advantage over than control. However soil bulk density trend to be reduced by using this chemical. Basal application of rock phosphate and chicken manure did not improve plant cane yield. However, in long term these material can increase first and second ratoon yield. Green manure is recommended because of it high advantage and low cost.
