Teck tree selection for Eastern south Vietnam and the high plateau

In order to meet requirement of production units for high quality seedling of Teak (Tectona grandis) Eastern south Vietnam forest scientific and production centre (belonging to FSIV) has carried out a study on Teak tree selection with the concrete objectives as following: (+) Teak selection for eastern south VN and highland (Taynguyen). (+) Establishement of seed orchard for the two regions. The obtained results were reported in the paper: 31 plus trees were selected from various sites: Dinhquan, Langa, Locquang, Mada and Eakmat. Seed orchards were established in Baubang and Konhanung. The results showed that the growth of trees planted from grafts in Konhanung seed orchard is better than the trees planted in Baubang with the same technics. Seedling and root cutting propagation give poor growth. Choosing ecological conditions for vegetative propagation is rather important
