Phosphorus compounds have a significant role in plant life processes. Based on numerous researches, it has been observed that its absence has an adverse effect on plant growth and reproduction and that plant species have different absorption capacities of this element. Based on the content of P2O5 in some dacites and andesites in the region of Serbia (Yugoslavia), exclusively from the aspect of the content of this oxide, the value of study rocks was assessed. The analysis of all study data shows that, regarding plant nutrition, the content of P2O5 is sufficient in a number of study rocks, while in some rocks it is good, very good, and even excessive. It seems that phosphorus is primarily associated with amphibole andesite with minor pyroxene or biotite, and to a lesser extent with amphibole dacite.
