[Torrent control by water micro-reservoirs and the choice of suitable materials]

Torrent control in agricultural regions imposes the question of the method of solving the problem of torrent regulation. The two most frequent methods are the classical regulation of watercourses and the construction of storage reservoirs in the watershed. This paper is concerned with the above problems researched in the experimental watershed. The simulated situation includes a storage in the upper part of the watershed and its influence on the magnitude of floods of varying probability of occurrence and flood routes in the downstream stretches, compared to the case with the classical regulation. The results show that the solution with a storage reservoir is justified, because in addition to protection, it also has ecological and esthetic advantages.
