Difficult parturition (partus gravis, dystocia) of domestic animals and veterinary assistance
2001
Miljkovic, V. (Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Belgrade (Yugoslavia))
Difficult parturition of large and small animals often induces considerable economical losses due to the death of numerous fetuses and mothers, as well as consequential female sterility, temporary or permanent. Therefore, timely expert veterinary assistance (manual, instrumental or surgical) could considerably reduce such losses since it is successful in 50 to 100% cases depending on the seriousness of the case.
