Effects of previous afforestation of bare areas and reconstruction of degraded forests - base for further works -

This paper presents the data on afforested areas in Serbia (Yugoslavia) starting from the works before the Second World War, and especially in the period 1945-1995. Before the Second World War 6,862 ha was afforested and 531,651 ha in the period 1945-1995, which is 23% of the actual forest area. The presented data on the produced wood volume show the high economic significance and a great impact on economic conditions.
