For a large time, Yugoslavia has been the leading plum-producer worldwide. The sixties saw the substantial investments to set up plum orchards, planted mainly by cv. Pozegaca. The upward trend in establishing plum plantations has been on a steady decline, resulting in a large-scale roguing of the plantations since the land had to be given back to its previous owners during the last decade of the century. Yugoslav plum culture is also accompanied by numerous other problems. In this paper all relevant problems of the plum production in Yugoslavia is present.
