The dependence of maize inbred lines yield on the content of nitrate nitrogen in soil and plants in the silking stage

The trials were carried out on semi-gley calcareous chernozem in the experimental field, during 1998 and 1999. The interrelationship of the dynamics of soil mineral nitrogen during a maize growing season and chlorophyll content, total nitrogen, as well as, a surface of three leaves enveloping the ear during the silking stage of maize inbred lines of different maturity groups (L1 - FAO 300, L2 - FAO 500 and L3 - FAO 700), depending on a fertilization variant (1st variant - Control without the mineral fertilizer application; 2nd variant - 60 kg NPK/ha in autumn; 3rd variant - 60 kg NPK/ha in autumn + fertilizing based on the Nmin-method - with the addition up to 120 kg N/ha; 4th variant - 60 kg NPK/ha in autumn + 60 kg NPK/ha in spring; 5th variant - 60 kg NPK/ha in autumn + 120 kg NPK/ha in spring) was observed in the present study. According to observed parameters of contents of nitrate nitrogen in soil, total nitrogen in leaves enveloping the ear, chlorophyll and leaf surface in the silking stage, the interrelationship was established, hence optimization and rationalization of N-fertilization of maize inbred lines can be performed.
